Khmer in Lowell
Khmer in Lowell was an exhibit part of the Proleung Khmer initiative commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Khmer Rouge genocide and honoring, celebrating, and preserving Khmer culture and history. The exhibit was curated by students from the University of Massachusetts Lowell during Dr. Christine Su’s “Cambodian Culture in Lowell” course in Spring 2025. The students gathered research through ethnographic interviews, maps, and portraits. Khmer in Lowell highlights the journeys, histories, and resilience of Khmer-Americans in Lowell, MA, following their resettlement after the genocide. The exhibit was showcased at the Loading Dock Gallery and later moved to Lowell City Hall.
